He’s here!

A bit before 11pm on Wednesday, Oct. 15th, Jean started having contractions.  By quarter after one, they were about five minutes apart, and a little after 1:30am we headed to the hospital.  At 7:47am on Oct. 16th, Charles Allen Sandberg was born!  (No, he was not due until Oct. 19th and yes, a Sandberg can be early!)  He is 7 pounds exactly, and 19 inches long.  We spent a couple days at the hospital, making sure that everything is alright with baby and mom, and came home this morning.

Thanks for the well wishes of everybody who’s called and visited.  Now that we’re back home, we’re a little overwhelmed (it is easy to overlook the helpfulness of the half dozen or so nurses at your beck and call when you’re in the hospital).  Also, we’re going to catch up on some missed sleep (I hear all you parents out there laughing), and then we’ll put up a more substantial post, with pictures, of course!
